How To Find Out Which Folder Is Using The Most Space

Cara Mencari Folder Yang Paling Banyak Memakan Ruang Harddisk
My computer reported that the C drive, or the primary hard drive is full or out of space. The C drive has 199 GB of space yet it said that I only had about 15 GB free. However my libraries in total have like less than 5 GB of storage now. I also have deleted all the files in the Recycle Bin, all my temporary files and any other unused files.

I then wanted to delete some of the things that are clogging up my C drive. And the most effective way to find them is by using WinDirStat! It's automatic, it's free and it is awesome! Thank you, Bernard (<-- the founder).

WinDirStat [download here] is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for various versions of Microsoft Windows. It reads the whole directory tree once and then presents it in three useful views:

  • The directory list, which resembles the tree view of the Windows Explorer but is sorted by file/subtree size,
  • The treemap, which shows the whole contents of the directory tree straight away,
  • The extension list, which serves as a legend and shows statistics about the file types.
To use it, simply run the WinDirStat, choose the drive you want to explore, and wait the process done.
Maaf. Artikel ini belum saya terjemahkan ke Bahasa Indonesia. Tapi silahkan unduh disini. Selanjutnya lihat gambar. Gampang, kok!

The treemap represents each file as a colored rectangle, the area of which is proportional to the file's size. The rectangles are arranged in such a way, that directories again make up rectangles, which contain all their files and subdirectories. So their area is proportional to the size of the subtrees. The color of a rectangle indicates the type of the file, as shown in the extension list. The cushion shading additionally brings out the directory structure.

Thanks to WinDirStat I found the folder that uses most space. It is Adobe's Media Cache Folder. Now, how to delete them safely? Read here.
